MLB live blog: Tracking all of Monday's action
Well lookie here, it’s a new week! Yes, I know that weeks technically start on Sunday, but (almost all) MLB series begin anew on Monday with Sunday being getaway day, so MLB weeks are run Monday-Sunday. So it’s a new week and don’t argue.
Anywho, it’s a bit of a light slate Monday, but there are some fun ones in there.
As always, we’ll be building this thing out all day and night, so come back several times througout the day, religiously refresh it or just come back Tuesday morning to catch up with everything all at once.
The only early action comes way early by MLB standards, with Patriots’ Day taking place in Boston. Can Adam Jones stay ridiculously hot? He’s carrying the Orioles as much as one man can carry a team in the game of baseball. Through just 12 games, Jones is hitting .457/.490/.848 with three doubles, five homers and 16 RBI.
Adam Jones is on fire right now. (USATSI)
The Red Sox counter with Justin Masterson on the hill and he’s had a rough go since the beginning of last season. In Jones’ career, he’s hit .250/.364/.429 with three doubles and a triple in 33 plate appearances against Masterson. He’s all kinds of locked in right now, though, so I like his chances for another big game.
As for the rest, dive on in!

“Baseball is dying” fact of the day

Injuries, News & Rumors
Blue Jays: After being shelled Sunday, Daniel Norris said that he’s going through a “dead arm” phase (nationalpost.com).
Dodgers: After two Tommy John surgeries, pitcher Brandon Beachy is getting close to a return (latimes.com).
Marlins: Contrary to a report from Sunday night, the Marlins have not reached out to Wally Backman, says a new report.
Red Sox: Hanley Ramirez left Monday’s game, but it was due to illness, the Red Sox say. That has to be considered good news.
