Blackhawks rally, defeat Predators in two OTs
After 20 minutes on Wednesday night it looked as if the Chicago Blackhawks were going to get blown out in the first game of their Western Conference playoff series against the Nashville Predators.
They were down 3-0, starting goalie Corey Crawford was benched after a miserable 20 minutes, and the Predators were just simply all over them from the opening faceoff.
But the Blackhawks refused to go away and rallied with four consecutive goals to take Game 1 in Nashville, 4-3, thanks to Duncan Keith‘s game-winning goal in double overtime on an innocent looking shot from the point that somehow found its way through traffic and into the back of the net.
Keith gets the attention for scoring the overtime goal, but the star of the game for Chicago was backup goalie Scott Darling who came on in relief of Crawford after the first period and stopped all 42 shots he faced to earn his first career NHL postseason win.
