What do you think of the Cleveland Browns’ new uniforms?
The Cleveland Browns made a huge spectacle of their uniform unveiling, and rightfully so (even though some pictures got out on social media). The new look is a lot different, considering the Browns’ uniforms haven’t changed too much since they first entered the NFL.
Here they are:
Well, that’s something. With orange, brown and white jerseys and three colors of pants as well, there are a few interesting combinations. Orange jerseys and orange pants? Brown on brown? What about “Browns” written down the side of the pants? Orange numbers on the brown jerseys? There’s a lot to take in. Included in that is the “Cleveland” on the front, what was announced as the largest name on the front of the jerseys in the NFL. It’s definitely unusual for an NFL team.
Of course, if you’re having trouble picturing the old uniforms, here’s what the Browns’ standard look was the past few years:
It’s not too much of a departure from what the Browns looked like before, but different enough to turn some heads. Which is what the Browns were going for.
The Browns went all out for the reveal. They had a fashion show at Cleveland Convention Center, played live on the ABC affiliate in Cleveland and streamed on the team’s site. The crowd was full on site for the unveiling.
According to a story on the Browns’ site, the process started in December of 2012, and wasn’t even ready for the 2014 season.
“It’s an exhaustive process you go through with the NFL,” Browns owner Jimmy Haslam told the Browns site. “I thought it was something you did and you could have it ready for the next season. I remember when they told me you can have it for the 2015 season, that seemed like forever.
“The process I initially thought was ridiculous in terms of how long it takes ended up being very good.”
The Browns had nine current players lined up to model the look: Joe Thomas, Donte Whitner, Karlos Dansby, Barkevious Mingo, Dwayne Bowe, Brian Hartline, Armonty Bryant, Chris Kirksey and Taylor Gabriel. Former Browns Jim Brown, Greg Pruitt, Hanford Dixon, Jamel White, Dan Fike, Bob Golic, John Thierry, Felix Wright and Kevin Mack also were scheduled to appear.
The show was a fun way to introduce the new look. But what will live on longer is how fans react to the uniforms. So, what do you think?
