The Rockies need a fifth starter for the first time Tuesday, and the team initially hoped De La Rosa would be ready to return from his groin injury at that point. Instead, he’ll start for Triple-A Albuquerque Tuesday.
“They want to make sure I’m good,” De La Rosa said. “I didn’t pitch very much in spring.”
Christian Bergman will get the call for Tuesday’s start against the Giants in San Francisco.
Mets pitcher Jenrry Mejia suspended 80 games for Stanozolol
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(5:45 pm ET) Mets pitcher Jenrry Mejia has been suspended 80 games by the league without pay for testing positive for Stanozolol, a performance-enhancing drug, the league announced Saturday.
Mejia was placed on the 15-day DL last week with an elbow injury kept him from appearing in Opening Day’s game against the Nationals.
“I know the rules and I will accept my punishment, but I honestly have no idea how a banned substance ended up in my system,” Mejia said via press release Saturday. “I have been through a lot in my young career and missed time due to injury. I have worked way too hard to come back and get to where I am, so I would never knowingly put anything in my body that I thought could hold me out further.”
He will also not appeal his suspension.
Mejia posted a 6-6 record in 2014 with a 3.65 ERA and 98 strikeouts in 93 2/3 innings.

White Sox’s Avisail Garcia won’t dive for fly balls anymore
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(5:25 pm ET) White Sox outfielder Avisail Garcia is putting his health ahead of spectacular catches.
Garcia suffered an avulsion fracture and labrum tear in his shoulder last April, diving to try to catch a line drive. Now he’s done diving for balls.
“Maybe if we play in the World Series and I have to dive, I’m going to dive,” he said, per MLB.com. “But not right now.”
Coach Darryl Boston is working with Garcia on getting into position, so dives aren’t necessary.
“We are trying to keep him on the field. He helps us by being out there 162 games if possible,” Boston said. “We get scouting reports so we try to put him in the best position possible.”
