Brett Lawrie picked up a golden sombrero in the most efficient way
If the Simpsons taught us anything, it’s that there are three ways to do things: the right way, the wrong way and the Max Power way. The Max Power way was defined as “the wrong way, but faster.”
Oakland Athletics infielder Brett Lawrie can empathize with that sentiment after Tuesday’s game. The 25-year-old struck out in all four of his at-bats, and all it took was 12 pitches. That’s the most efficient way to pick up the dreaded golden sombrero.

Off-speed stuff was a particular issue for Lawrie during the contest, according to Peter Ellwood.
After the game, Lawrie told the San Francisco Chronicle’s Susan Slusser that it was “just one of those nights.“
To add insult to injury, Lawrie’s final strikeout ended the game. With a man on first, and Lawrie representing the tying run, he went down swinging for the fourth time.
Doing things the Max Power way might be efficient, but it doesn’t seem like it’s very fun.
