Chase Anderson to start Friday, Archie Bradley on Saturday

(6:53 pm ET) Diamondbacks pitcher Chase Anderson will start Friday against the Dodgers at Chase Field, followed by Archie Bradley on Saturday, manager Chip Hale told reporters, per the team’s official website.
Anderson went 9-7 with a 4.01 ERA last season. He is 1-1 with a 4.96 ERA in three career starts against Los Angeles.
Bradley will be making his pro debut on Saturday after posting a 1.61 ERA and a 14:6 K:BB ratio over 22 innings in the spring. He went 3-7 with a 4.45 ERA in 83 innings across two levels in the minors last season.
Rangers’ Nick Tepesch (elbow) sidelined for about one month

(6:51 pm ET) Rangers pitcher Nick Tepesch is expected to open the season on the minor-league disabled list due to elbow inflammation, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Tepesch is set to miss about a month due to the issue, which he said is similar to an injury he had in 2013 that caused him to miss six weeks. He lost out on a competition for a major-league rotation spot this spring.
Chris Heston to start for Giants, Matt Cain DL bound

Cain is sidelined with a forearm injury, and has been placed on the disabled list retroactive to April 3.
Heston appeared in three games for the Giants last year, starting one.
Report: Orioles discussing Brian Matusz, Ryan Webb in trade talks

(6:48 pm ET) The Orioles are having ongoing trade discussions involving relief pitchers Brian Matusz and Ryan Webb, FOX Sports reports.
Webb was designated for assignment Monday, so the team is looking to receive something in return for the player after removing him from the 40-man roster. Matusz delivered the best season of his career in 2014, posting a 3.48 ERA and 53:17 K:BB ratio in 51 2/3 innings.
Angels go with Collin Cowgill over Matt Joyce in left field Tuesday

(6:34 pm ET) The Angels will start Collin Cowgill in left field Tuesday against the Mariners over Matt Joyce, per the team’s starting lineup. Cowgill, who is considered a platoon with Joyce in left, will make his season debut Tuesday and bat eighth.
Cowgill, who will face left-hander James Paxton Tuesday, is a career .277 hitter against lefties with seven home runs and 27 RBI.

Athletics pitcher Jarrod Parker tosses simulated game Tuesday

(6:04 pm ET) Athletics pitcher Jarrod Parker was able to throw a simulated game Tuesday as a part of his rehab from Tommy John surgery, according to Bay Area News Group.
Parker, who is on the 15-day disabled list, but not expect to return until July, has thrown multiple bullpen sessions and simulated games. He is expected to begin the year with an extended spring training.
Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander may miss start Sunday

(5:57 pm ET) Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander was hoping to make his season debut Sunday, but his status may be in doubt, according to MLive.com.
Verlander, who is dealing with a triceps injury, was expected to be placed on the 15-day DL with the injury, but the team decided to hold him off in the hopes of making the start Saturday.
He tossed a 40 pitch bullpen session Monday.
“Ver threw (Sunday) off the mound,” Ausmus said. “He felt great. The last couple pitches not as great. We’ll wait to talk to him today to see how he feels.”
If Verlander is placed on the DL Wednesday or later in the week, the Tigers are likely to bring up another starter to take his place, according to MLB.com.
Orioles outfielder David Lough still bothered by hamstring injury

(5:50 pm ET) Orioles outfielder David Lough is still not back to 100 percent from his hamstring injury, manager Buck Showalter said Tuesday per the Baltimore Sun.
Lough, who is eligible to return Saturday from the 15-day DL, is doubtful to return by then, according to Showalter. Lough was able to participate in baseball activities Tuesday and hopes to take 3 to 4 at-bats if 100 percent Wednesday, according to MASN.com.
