Hurricanes’ Patrick Dwyer dekes around two Sabres for pretty goal (Video)
The Buffalo Sabres aren’t doing a very good job at clinching the 30th seed in the NHL. With a regulation loss to the Carolina Hurricanes Monday night, they could guarantee themselves either one of the top two picks in June’s draft depending on how next week’s lottery ends up.
Instead, the Sabres scored twice in the first period and two more in the second to take a 4-zip lead on the Hurricanes at one point.
Carolina began their comeback two minutes after Tyler Ennis scored Buffalo’s fourth goal when Patrick Dwyer dipsy-dooed around Nikita Zadorov and Cody Hodgson and got some help in the form of a screen by Rasmus Ristolainen.
Now, look, we don’t want to turn this goal into anything more than a “Hey, that was a pretty nice!” but you could say this was a poor man’s version of Jaromir Jagr’s goal in the 1992 Stanley Cup Final against Chicago:
Sure, there was less dipsy-dooing, but we’ve got to pump the tires of the Hurricanes in some fashion after the season they’ve had.
