Yasiel Puig ‘fine’ following collision with Howie Kendrick (Video)
Yasiel Puig was on the wrong end of a painful collision Thursday night, but it appears he escaped without suffering any serious damage.
Puig was running down a pop up in right field in the fifth inning of the Dodgers’ exhibition game against the Angels when he ran into second baseman Howie Kendrick, who was also tracking the ball. Kendrick’s elbow hit Puig in the throat and Puig went down hard and stayed down until the training staff arrived on the field.
To be safe, the Dodgers removed their star right fielder as a precaution. It was reported after the game that Puig should be good to go as early as Friday.

Puig was checked by a doctor and the Dodgers said there is no injury. He is expected to be available to play Friday. Puig waved off media requests as he left the clubhouse, saying only “I’m fine.”
Well, that’s good to hear. And just to let us know he’s really fine, Puig will start the Dodgers’ next game and hit a home run, complete with vintage bat flip.
