The Seahawks and Packers have the lowest odds to win the Super Bowl while the Colts, who made some big off-season moves, have the lowest from the AFC.
Seattle Seahawks
Odds: +600
The Seahawks came oh so close last season and have the lowest odds to win the Super Bowl this season. Marshawn Lynch was resigned and picking up TE Jimmy Graham was a solid move, but will the contract situation of Russell Wilson be a distraction? That is big question, but the defense in Seattle should be one of the best in the league, yet again.
Green Bay Packers
Odds: +600
The Packers stood pat in the off-season and they resigned many of their key players and improved their secondary in the draft. Aaron Rodgers and Eddie Lacy will lead the offense and there are high expectations, yet again, in Green Bay.
Indianapolis Colts
Odds: +750
The Colts made a big splash in the free agent market signing some players on D, but the big additions were on offense with WR Andre Johnson and RB Frank Gore. Andrew Luck now has some more weapons and if Gore can play like the last several seasons the Colts finally will have a legit rushing attack. Indy will be in the mix and it helps that they play in the weakest division in the NFL in the AFC South.
New England Patriots
Odds: +900
The Pats won it all last season and this season they have solid odds, but Tom Brady will miss the first 4 games. Jimmy Garoppolo will have to step in under center, but he has some solid weapons and the run game is there with LeGarrette Blount returning. The pass defense remains a concern and the team lost some players on the line on the off-season.
Denver Broncos
Odds: +1200
The Broncos went 12-4 last season and Peyton Manning flamed out in the last month of the season. He has to stay healthy and while he has a good WR corps t Julius Thomas was lost in free agency. The defense will switch to a 3-4 and Von Miller and Demarcus Ware are great pass rushers, but the pass defense is the main concern.
Dallas Cowboys
Odds: +1400
The Cowboys made the playoffs last season and while they locked up star WR Dez Bryant last season’s rushing leader DeMarcus Murray is now with the Eagles. They had a solid draft, but the D is a concern and without Murray it may be the same old Cowboys with Tony Romo having to carry the offense.
Baltimore Ravens
Odds: +2500
The Ravens will be in the mix in the tough AFC North with the likes of Joe Flacco and Justin Forsett leading the offense. The run defense was solid last season, but Haloti Ngata, is gone and the pass defense was the main issue, but they may be better this season since the secondary had many injuries.
Philadelphia Eagles
Odds: +2500
The Eagles are a whole new team this season with new QB Sam Bradford, who has to stay healthy for a change, and last season’s rushing leader DeMarco Murray. The team also added the likes of Byron Maxwell, Kiko Alonso, Walter Thurmond and Eric Rowe, who were brought in to improve a pass defense that was torched last season.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Odds: +2500
Ben Roethlisberger had a big season last year and the rushing game was pretty good, but unlike Pittsburgh teams in the past their defense was the big weakness. They added some players on the side of the ball, but that may be the big issue again this season.
