Nebraska Cornhuskers (7-0) vs. Wisconsin Badgers (5-2)
Nebraska is undefeated and the 7th ranked team in the nation, but are they that good? Their only win over a ranked team came early in the season beating an Oregon squad that is currently 2-5. They have not been overly impressive on offense as of late, but in Big 10 play they have given up an average of only 16.3 ppg.
In the Huskers four conference wins they have beaten teams that have a combined record of 6-10.
Wisconsin has played a much tougher schedule with three games in their last four facing teams in the top 10. Their only losses on the season have come against Ohio State and Michigan, who were both in the top five at the time, and they lost each game by only seven points.
This season Nebraska is 4-2-1 ATS with an O/U record of 1-6 and Wisconsin is 6-1 ATS with an O/U record of 2-5.
In their last games Nebraska beat Purdue 27-14 and Wisconsin beat Iowa 17-9.
The Huskers have a balanced offense led by QB Tommy Armstrong (1,611 yards 11 TD 5 INT), who is also the team’s 2nd leading rusher, and two RB’s that have at least 320 rushing yards. Armstrong has been putting up decent numbers lately, but in his last four games he only has four TD and he has been picked off four times. Senior RB Terrell Newby leads the team in rushing yards and after two games rushing for over 100 yards he had 82 on only 3.7 yards per carry in the Purdue game.
Wisconsin’s strength is their defense, which ranks 4th in the nation giving up an average of 14.3 ppg. They rank 29th in the nation defending the pass and 10th defending the run.
The Badgers’ offense is not dynamic, but they have also played three very good defensive teams in their last three games.
Wisconsin QB Alex Hornibrook has more INT than TD this season and he does not have more than one TD in any game this season. He does have three targets with at least 300 receiving yards and they will be up against a Huskers’ pass defense that ranks 55th in the nation. The one player the Nebraska D really has to worry about is RB Corey Clement, who has rushed for 164 yards and 134 yards in his last two games. The Huskers rank 27th in the nation in run defense and they stuffed the run facing Purdue in their last game holding them to only 24 rushing yards.

Nebraska Cornhuskers at Wisconsin Badgers Free Pick
The Badgers losses came against probably the two best teams in the Big Ten, but they did lose which is something that the Cornhuskers have yet to do. That said, Nebraska hasn’t looked dominate in any of their games and we could make a solid argument about the lack of quality opponents they have faced. From our perspective Wisconsin has played five teams that are superior to any opponent that Nebraska has faced this season. This will be a big wake up call for the Huskers.
