Bogut plays in game for first time since injury
Dallas Mavericks center Andrew Bogut played Sunday in Australia’s final tuneup for the Olympics.
It was the first time Bogut has appeared in a competitive game since injuring his left leg during the NBA Finals, when he was a member of the Golden State Warriors.
Bogut played nine minutes, finishing Australia’s 82-53 exhibition victory over China with two rebounds and an assist.
“Your first game back from an injury is always difficult but we’re happy with how he moved with and without the ball,” assistant coach Luc Longley, said, according to Basketball Australia.
Bogut suffered bone bruises to his proximal tibia and distal femur, two major bones in the leg, in a collision with the Cleveland Cavaliers‘ J.R. Smith in Game 5. The injury didn’t require surgery but he missed the final two games of the Finals and had been sidelined from action until Sunday.
The Warriors traded Bogut to the Mavericks this offseason.
