Texas A&M rewrites hymn with 'dish towels' and 'Lysol' in lyrics at women's event
We fail to see how someone at Texas A&M thought a “rewrite” of the Aggie War Hymn during its “Chalk Talk” for women was a good idea.
The session was held Wednesday night and included this take on the A&M song with these lyrics. Why? Why? Why?

The rewrite wasn’t featured in the description of the event on Texas A&M’s site. First-person exposure to the stupidity was $80 a ticket, and yes, we know it’s “special teams” and not “special team’s.”
Chalk Talk participants will take part in offensive, defensive and special team’s Chalk Talk sessions. You will participate in football drills, tour the Texas A&M Football facility, and receive a preview into the 2016 Aggie Football season.
Women’s football events have become popular affairs at many big-time schools, and Texas A&M isn’t the only one that has made inappropriate references recently. At Kentucky’s women’s football clinic July 23, this happened. Gran and Hinshaw are Kentucky’s co-offensive coordinators.

The presence of women’s-only events in a male-dominated sports world isn’t necessarily a bad thing, though debating the need for their existence isn’t out of line. The bad things happen when patronizing and outright demeaning things are deemed necessary for the proceedings.
We can only hope other schools with upcoming female fan events can learn from these boneheaded mistakes.
