Report: Nets' Bojan Bogdanovic escaped failed Turkish coup on a boat
Brooklyn Nets wing Bojan Bogdanovic, not to be confused with former Phoenix Suns first-round pick Bogdan Bogdanovic (although I now fear I’ve just confused you even more), was just trying to enjoy some much-needed rest and relaxation with his girlfriend in Turkey’s Bodrum Peninsula before his Croatian national basketball team chases a medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
But if Bogdanovic thought his trip to Brazil would be the hairiest portion of his summer, think again.

According to Greek sports talk radio station sport-fm.gr, via Nets Daily, Recep Tayyip Erdogan was also on vacation in Turkey’s Aegean Sea resort area, and the Turkish president claimed military personnel bombed his hotel shortly after he left for Istanbul during the country’s failed coup attempt on Friday.
Like many on holiday in the vicinity, Bogdanovic was looking to flea for safer ground, and the 6-foot-7 Croatian apparently had a leg up on his fellow tourists. According to the report, his agent and George Gkotzogiannis, the manager of Greek League team Colossus, arranged for transportation by boat to the Greek island of Rhodes, roughly an hour from where Bogdanovic and his girlfriend were staying.
We can only imagine it went exactly like this:
After grabbing a bite to eat and posing for some photos with some uber-Bogdanovic fans, the couple flew to the Croatian capital of Zagreb shortly after arriving in Rhodes, according to the sport-fm.gr.

Earlier this month, Bogdanovic led all players in scoring with 24.3 points per game during the FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Turin, Italy. Bogdanovic’s countrymen tip off against Spain and the Gasol brothers for a tough first game in Rio on August 7, as Croatia seeks its first medal since capturing silver opposite Team USA’s original Dream Team at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.
So, let’s hope this is the last time this summer Bogdanovic has to escape a foreign country on a boat.
