Thomas Pieters snapped his club and deposited it in a gorse bush
Thomas Pieters had finally reached the green on the par-4 11th at Royal Troon on Sunday. It took him seven shots to get there.
After turning a good week sour with a few bad swings, the Belgian decided to take out his frustration on the golf club with which he hit the best shot on the hole. Once he had finally seen his ball land and stay on the green, Pieters took a few steps toward the green, then snapped the iron over his knee, throwing the two pieces into a gorse bush running up the left side of the hole.
Pieters wound up making a 9 on the hole and played the rest of the round with one less club (he wasn’t allowed to replace it under the Rules of Golf).
