SEC Twitter account posts racy photos in apparent hack
A social media nightmare became a reality for the SEC.
On Saturday morning, the SEC’s official Twitter account posted inappropriate photos of scantily clad women in two separate tweets. The tweets, which were sent out to the account’s 325,000 followers, were up only briefly before being deleted.

Soon after the posts were deleted, commissioner Greg Sankey apologized and the conference later said its account was hacked.
“We became aware of it when we saw some retweets,” SEC spokesman Herb Vincent said in a statement to ESPN. “The images were removed immediately, our password changed and we notified Twitter. We will, of course, continue to monitor the account closely today.”
Chuck Dunlap, the SEC’s communications director, had a sense of humor about the whole ordeal.
The NFL’s Twitter account was hacked earlier this month, so at least the SEC isn’t alone with its social media issues.
