Kansas coach David Beaty recruits from a hoverboard (Video)
David Beaty’s first season as Kansas didn’t go too well on the field, but that hasn’t stopped him from making progress on the recruiting trail.
The Jayhawks have already landed 10 verbal commitments for their 2017 class, including five three-star recruits and one four-star recruit. By comparison, by this time last year, the team had just two commitments that ended up signing with the school.

Maybe it’s because Beaty does stuff like this:
Yeah, that’s Beaty just casually rolling down the street on a hoverboard while recording a message for Reggie Roberson, a three-star wide receiver commit from Mesquite, Texas.
Beaty spent three seasons as the wide receivers coach at Texas A&M before getting the head gig at Kansas. He has been able to dip into the fertile Texan recruiting grounds quite a bit, landing eight signees from the Lone Star State in 2016 and four so far in the current class.

You have to be innovative while connecting with kids in recruiting, right? The hoverboard video is lighthearted, no doubt, but it’s just a small glimpse into Beaty’s effort to get the Kansas program off the ground.
