Sources: 76ers in hot pursuit of Celts' No. 3 pick
The Philadelphia 76ers are ramping up their efforts to acquire the No. 3 overall pick from the Boston Celtics in tonight’s NBA draft, league sources tell ESPN.
Numerous rivals describe the 76ers as the most active team in circulation Thursday, with a trade involving Nerlens Noel looking more and more likely.
The Sixers, as ESPN first reported earlier this month, also have been aggressively trying to move Jahlil Okafor and, according to sources, are prepared to trade either Okafor or Noel — or both — to meet their draft-night objectives.
If the Sixers are successful in prying the No. 3 pick from the Celtics, the move will enable Philadelphia to choose between Buddy Hield, Kris Dunn and Jamal Murray.
The Sixers, who also hold the No. 1 overall pick, worked out Ben Simmons on Tuesday, and according to sources, the team has told Simmons they will draft him with the No. 1 overall pick.
