Florida State has ‘state championship’ rings for 2015
Florida State has state championship rings.
No, this is not a joke. It really does.
The Seminoles beat Florida and Miami in 2015. According to the Tallahasse Democrat, the players received the rings on Thursday and they are “personalized with last names, and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on the left side, and scores for both games on the right side.”
The Seminoles also beat South Florida, but the poor Bulls don’t get to have the score of their loss to the Seminoles on the rings. Sorry USF. And, as you likely know, Florida State lost to Houston in the Peach Bowl, so part of the ring is commemorating a loss.

We’re wondering just how many players will be wearing their state championship rings on a regular basis. Or how many players would have preferred the cash value of the ring instead of the ring itself. If only FSU could have given them the option within NCAA rules.
FSU plays all three Florida teams again in 2016. If the Seminoles don’t win the ACC or their bowl game, a second-straight state title ring from a team a few years removed from a national championship would be, uh, fun. Especially if South Florida merits inclusion. Can’t keep ignoring Willie Taggart’s team.
