Nobody is enjoying Cleveland’s title more than Matthew Dellavedova
The historic Cavaliers run to the NBA title was cathartic for all of Cleveland, especially LeBron James, and the city celebrated appropriately, especially J.R. Smith, but an Australian is enjoying it more than anyone.
That man is Matthew Dellavedova, backup to Game 7 hero Kyrie Irving on the world champs. Delly played zero minutes in the clincher, but the championship is no less his than any other Cavalier. And because he’s used to maximizing limited minutes, he’s perhaps most equipped to ensure the party doesn’t stop.

So, let’s follow the Aussie on his celebratory sojourn — from crushing Coronas to playing beer pong with PBR and the literal roller coaster ride in between — and see if any of that positive energy rubs off on us.
The Cavs’ party started with an embrace between LeBron and Kevin Love — captured in an iconic photo.
But wait, guys, Delly was there, too.
Told you Delly was there. Thus began The Celebration of Delly. It continued with a brief family photo op.
Then, the real party started when Delly boarded the team plane wearing a zip-up shortsleeve Hawaiian shirt that should be preserved in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Naturally, he was the guy carrying the Larry O’Brien trophy around and snapping selfies with just about everyone on the squad.
I’m not sure what “Wagon brough the juice” means. Maybe it’s an Australian thing I don’t know about. But it should be the official Cavs slogan from now until eternity. Or maybe Delly’s the wagon, and the juice is actually Corona in a can, because Delly was found double-fisting those puppies in Las Vegas.
Life goals, achieved. Oh, and when Delly arrived back in Cleveland, he was still pretty amped.
I mean, look at this guy. Delly isn’t just having the best time of anybody in Cleveland. He’s having the best time anybody has ever had. Delly had to find a roller coaster that matched his energy, because he’s riding high, man. What has two thumbs and just won the NBA championship? Matthew Dellavedova, obvi.
Things cooled down afterward when Delly’s amptitude went from two to one on the thumbs-up scale.
So, how does Delly turn the fun-o-meter back up to 11? By cracking some ice-cold Pabst Blue Ribbons and inviting Cavs teammates Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye over for some beer pong action.
Word is Delly’s dad won in another come-from-behind series, because that’s what Dellavedovas do.
Somewhere Delly’s still celebrating, still embracing Love, still thumbs up. The only question is whether he’s sporting that Hawaiian shirt or a sleeveless Collingwood Mapies Australian Football League jersey.
Keep doing you, Delly, because it’s working. And something tells me he’s only getting started, because last we’ve heard he was checking to make sure it’s cool if he crowd surfs at Wednesday’s victory parade.
