Mini Thor might have provided most adorable first pitch ever
New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard was scheduled to pitch Wednesday afternoon against the Kansas City Royals and that provided the perfect opportunity to invite a 5-year-old boy named Ashtin Gerberg. who bears a striking resemblance to Syndergaard, to the ballpark to throw out the first pitch.
Ashtin didn’t disappoint, heaving his best fastball almost all the way to the plate from the pitcher’s mound in Citi Field.
We shouldn’t have to remind you this is something grown men have proven unable to do in the past. Ashtin
Video of Ashtin practicing his pitching at home surfaced earlier this spring and captured the hearts of baseball fans not only because of how darn cute he is, but also because of how talented he is for his young age. He also got to meet Syndergaard earlier this week in advance of his big day at the ballpark.
Syndergaard didn’t have his best stuff on Wednesday, but he still managed to pitch six full innings, allowing three runs and striking out four. He was in line for the win with the Mets leading 4-3 when manager Terry Collins made the call to the bullpen.
