Report: UK's Matthews headed to Big Ten – The Courier-Journal
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Former UK guard Charles Matthews is headed to Michigan, according to a report from ESPN.com’s Jeff Goodman.
Matthews announced his plans to transfer from Kentucky in May after averaging 1.7 points and 1.6 rebounds in 10.3 minutes per game as a freshman. He played in all 36 games for UK with three starts.
Matthews is one of two UK players to transfer since the end of the season, joining senior forward Marcus Lee, who recently announced he will use his final season of eligibility at California. Both players will have to sit out the 2016-17 season before returning to the court in the fall of 2017.
