Billy Hamilton makes insane catch near perfectly placed ad
All we can do is shake our heads in amazement after witnessing this extraordinary effort.
Cincinnati Reds center fielder Billy Hamilton, who just returned on Friday from the concussion disabled list, risked his body again to save extra bases and deny the Houston Astros a sure run.
The play happened in the second inning with Cincinnati already trailing by two runs. Houston’s Jake Marisnick hit a rocket that Hamilton raced 40 yards just to catch up to. The distance wasn’t a big deal, because as the sign says, Hamilton is “freaky fast.”
How fast you ask? According to Statcast, Hamilton topped out at 20.4 mph!
The fast approaching wall was his biggest problem, but Hamilton had enough time to slow down and enough room to make a lunging catch without crashing into said wall too hard.
Make no mistake: He still hit that wall. He still felt it too. But he minimized the impact and made a sensational catch.
Unfortunately for the Reds, Hamilton couldn’t be everywhere all of the time. Despite rallying to tie the game in the ninth innng, they ultimately fell 5-4 to Houston on George Springer’s walk-off single in the 11th inning.
