David Price weighs in on the NBA’s credibility
Stephen Curry’s wife isn’t the only one taking a strong stance against the NBA on social media.
Boston Red Sox ace David Price officially weighed in on the questionable officiating during Game 6 of the NBA Finals — which the Cleveland Cavaliers won to force a decisive Game 7 against the Golden State Warriors in Oakland on Sunday night — indicating in a tweet that he believes the league’s credibility has been compromised.
It’s no small statement coming from an active player in another sports league. Price is essentially saying he believes the outcome of at least Game 6 was predetermined or altered by the officiating, allowing the series to continue and the league to cash in.

Price is far from the only one expressing that opinion. Conspiracy theorists were lining up as far back as Game 5, when Draymond Green was suspended for one game following a series of flagrant fouls.
It’s not completely clear if Price is referencing the series as a whole, or just instances from Game 6. Admittedly though, even novice basketball watchers could see that Game 6 was marred by some questionable calls, especially some rather soft fouls that were assessed to league MVP Stephen Curry.
Still, that doesn’t warrant the credibility of the league being called into question. While there are obvious benefits to the league with the series going seven games, it’s tough to impact a game where Cleveland took control early and never really relented. They earned it, which is the point Price’s teammate Travis Shaw made in response to the original tweet.
As fans, we’re always looking for reasons to explain why something happened that we didn’t expect. Here though, the reaching seems to be going too far.
Oh well, it’s just another reminder that there’s never a dull day in the world of sports. In a matter of hours, we can go from debating who is baseball’s true hit king between Pete Rose and Ichiro, to celebrating a big victory for the United States’ men’s soccer team, to questioning the credibility of an entire league.
It’s all pretty crazy, but we wouldn’t trade the craziness for anything.
