The Sacramento Kings’ clean new uniforms join the future and past
A couple of months after revealing their revamped logos, the Sacramento Kings continued their rebrand on Wednesday, following up some early-week leaks with the unveiling of the new-look uniforms they’ll wear on the floor beginning in the 2016-17 season:

And if you’d like to see still shots of the new duds, both on their own and as modeled by rising sophomore Willie Cauley-Stein, well, here you go, starting with the home whites, which feature purple trim and granite accents:
… continuing with the road purples:
… and moving on to the alternates, beginning with the “City” jerseys with, um, Sacramento Executive Airport’s abbreviation on the front of the jerseys:
… and the “Global” alternates, which feature an interlocking S pattern reportedly “inspired by an emblem on our city’s flag” atop a black backdrop:
… and, last but certainly not least, the baby blue throwback kits that tie the club to its 1980s past:
“Each jersey is united by the team’s beginnings in Sacramento, as a baby blue band runs along the base of the collar, while three baby blue stitches that run perpendicular to the seam on the right side of the jersey stand for the three elements that form the soul of our franchise: our city, our pride and our foundation,” the team said in its unveiling announcement. “At the base of the jersey, a baby blue ‘Sacramento Proud’ tab is embedded to serve as a reminder that each jersey is more than a uniform — it is a symbol honoring our city every time the team takes the court.”
As ever, when it comes to aesthetic appreciation of the new threads, your mileage may vary:

… but as the esteemed Paul Lukas of Uni Watch sees it, the Kings’ new look is a step in the right direction on the journey from junior varsity to the big leagues:
The new uniforms — timed to coincide with the team’s move to a new arena this fall — represent the next step in the makeover, beginning with a lot of addition by subtraction. The Kings’ clownish chest mark? Gone. The goofy number font? Gone. The embarrassingly spiky side panels? All gone.
In their place is a look that, while not particularly groundbreaking or innovative, sends a clear message: “This is no longer a novelty act. We are adults. Take us seriously.”
Perhaps most importantly, the team’s lone All-Star, center DeMarcus Cousins, seems to be a fan:

That’s good news. A happy Boogie is a joy forever.
