Sources: Bogut (knee) travels, awaits MRI results
Injured center Andrew Bogut traveled with the Golden State Warriors to Cleveland on Tuesday afternoon in advance of Thursday night’s Game 6 in the NBA Finals, according to league sources, but a firm status update on Bogut’s health wasn’t expected until later Tuesday night.
Sources told ESPN.com that Bogut underwent an MRI exam on his sprained left knee Tuesday morning as scheduled. Yet sources said the results of that exam were being evaluated further by the Warriors’ medical team during their Ohio-bound flight.
An official announcement on Bogut’s status, sources said, is likely to come after the Warriors land.
There was cautious optimism in the Warriors’ camp late Monday that Bogut did not suffer any structural damage following a scary-looking collision with Cleveland‘s J.R. Smith, but Bogut did leave the arena walking very gingerly.
Although the Warriors have been outscored by 25 points in Bogut’s 60 minutes on the floor in the series, he was a major spark in Golden State’s Game 2 victory at home, recording six blocked shots.
With that performance, Bogut became the first player to register six blocked shots in an NBA Finals game since Pau Gasol in 2010.
