Aw, nuts: Juan Uribe injured by 106 mph grounder to the groin
when we talked about baseball’s groin problem last week, just look at what happened to poor Juan Uribe during Sunday’s game.
If you didn’t believe itUribe — the veteran Cleveland Indians’ third baseman — took a grounder to the baby-maker, then stayed on the ground for a few minutes in obvious pain before being carted off the field. He was eventually diagnosed with a “testicular contusion,” which is as horrible as it sounds.

But this wasn’t any ol’ grounder. The ball came off Mike Trout’s bat at 106 mph (Yes, baseball tracks everrrrrrrrrything, even the worst things).
Uribe is the third MLB player in three weeks to leave a game after going through such a, ummm, nutcracker.
Teammate (and catcher) Yan Gomes was hospitalized last week after a foul ball knocked him in the groin. At least Gomes should have treatment ideas to share, right? Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph needed surgery after he was hit by a foul tip two weeks ago.
We can’t say for sure this is karma coming to Juan Uribe, since Mike Trout hits baseballs really hard and that shouldn’t be lost in all of this. But if I’m Uribe, I’m never trying to steal a fan’s hot dog again.
