The Nebraska football team was picked to finish second in the Big Ten West by Athlon Sports while posting an 8-4 record in 2016.
While Nebraska football fans all over the country have been talking about what they’re expecting the Huskers to do this coming season, Athlon Sports thinks the team will be a middle of the road program that certainly improves on last season, but not by nearly as much as some might hope.
In what was a look at the entire conference and where they would finish, Nebraska got a bit of props considering they’re expected to finish second in the West. The only team to beat the football team out in that division is the Iowa Hawkeyes.

As it seems high unlikely Fresno State or Wyoming are good enough for Athlon to be predicting upsets, the magazine expects Oregon to log a victory in Lincoln.

There isn’t a breakdown of just how the Nebraska football team is going to do in the conference, though it seems likely Ohio State and Iowa have been counted as losses. The real question is where the third game Athlon thinks Nebraska lost in conference came from.
Wisconsin seems like the logical choice, though the publication has said the Badgers will finish well behind Nebraska as they will go just 5-4 in conference.
