Eagles’ Nelson Agholor accused of raping exotic dancer
Philadelphia Magazine is reporting that Philadelphia Eagles receiver Nelson Agholor has been accused of raping an exotic dancer at a gentlemen’s club in the city.
Citing law enforcement sources, David Gambacorta reports that the alleged incident happened Thursday at Cheerleaders Gentlemen’s Club.
A 27-year old dancer told police that she was raped inside the club around 3 p.m., which is located just a couple of miles from the Eagles’ NovaCare training complex.
At least two other Eagles players were with Agholor at the club, according to the law enforcement sources; the team held its last practice session of the offseason earlier Thursday.
“There was an allegation made against one of the [Eagles] players of a sexual assault that was reported by one of the female dancers,” Philadelphia Police commissioner Richard Ross said. “Our Special Victims Unit is actively running on the investigation.”
Detectives are trying to track down video footage from the club, Ross said, and the police department contacted Eagles officials.
Agholor is expected to be interviewed by investigators soon, and has not been charged with any crime.
The Eagles released a brief statement on the situation:
“We are aware of the police investigation involving Nelson Agholor. The organization has been in contact with Nelson and the proper authorities in Philadelphia. Because of the legal nature of this matter, we will have no further comment.”
The 20th overall pick out of USC last year, Agholor had 23 receptions for 283 yards and a touchdown in 13 games as a rookie.
