Jabrill Peppers’ high school to play at Michigan Stadium
Whatever your feelings toward Michigan and coach Jim Harbaugh are, you have to appreciate the Wolverines’ ingenuity.
Michigan will play host to New Jersey high school Paramus Catholic in September. Paramus Catholic, the alma mater of Michigan defensive back Jabrill Peppers, will play at Michigan Stadium on September 2. Michigan opens the season a day later against Hawaii.
A Michigan spokesperson confirmed the game was happening to MLive.com.
The player mentioned in the tweet, Myles Wright, plays at St. Frances.
Peppers was a five-star recruit in the class of 2014; he was recruited and signed to Michigan by former Michigan coach Brady Hoke, who was fired and replaced by Harbaugh. He’s not the only Paramus Catholic connection at Michigan too. From MLive:
Shortly after Harbaugh was hired in late 2014, he hired former Paramus Catholic head coach Chris Partridge to be the team’s director of player personnel. Partridge then played a key role in helping Michigan land Gary, the country’s No. 1-ranked player in 2016.
Partridge is now serving as Michigan’s linebackers/special teams coach.

Michigan high schools are playing a kickoff series at Michigan Stadium the week before Paramus Catholic comes to Ann Arbor. And while having Michigan schools at Michigan Stadium is a nice recruiting advantage for Michigan, they all are local schools. There’s already an inherent recruiting advantage based on proximity.
New Jersey isn’t exactly local, and it could set an interesting precedent for other schools. Consider the SEC furor (and subsequent copycatting) regarding Michigan’s satellite camp tour. We’re going to bet there are some schools simultaneously annoyed at this latest move by the Wolverines while also wondering how it can figure out how to host other prominent high schools.
Will the NCAA end up involved? We’re gonna find out, though we’re not sure how it’ll be able to effectively police high schools traveling to play regular-season games on college campuses.
