Fan catches foul ball and celebrates by doing the robot
There have been some great fan catches this year, and some even greater celebration dances. (This fan doing the Ric Flair Strut is tops.) But the question comes to mind: how can anyone think clearly enough to dance when they’ve just done something they’ve probably imagined doing since they were a kid? A fan at Monday’s Atlanta Braves-San Diego Padres game showed everyone just what happens in the mind of a foul ball catcher.
In the bottom of the second inning, Padres shortstop Alexei Ramirez was batting against Braves starter Williams Perez. Ramirez hit the 1-0 pitch foul, and it bounced over the visitors dugout and into the hands of a fan. The crowd gave a great cheer, and that’s when the excitement took over both the body and brain of that fan.

The best part of that fan’s reaction is that he’s so incredibly happy about catching the ball that he simply doesn’t know what to do with himself. The guy just can’t contain his excitement; it’s pouring out of him and he can’t stop it. Immediately after he catches it, he high fives a few people near him, and then he holds up the ball in his gloved hand while jumping up and down. Then (while still jumping) he fist pumps with his other hand, and starts to alternate.
But he’s not done! He attempts an arm wave dance, and then he tries to transition to the robot, but ends up combining the two dances for a moment before getting out a few clean robot moves.
And then he resumes high fiving, this time hitting the people behind him.
If you can be as excited about anything today as this guy is about catching a foul ball, then you’ve had a good day.
