Video: Stephen Curry was awfully excited for his Warriors teammates
The unanimous MVP has been scintillating for the Golden State Warriors all year, and he was brilliant in limited Game 2 action, but this time it was Stephen Curry’s effort on the bench that was so impressive.
While he scored 18 points on 11 shots, adding nine rebounds and four assists in 24:43 on Sunday, Golden State’s 110-77 blowout of the Cleveland Cavaliers was highlighted by contributions from all over the Warriors’ roster, and Curry appreciated every minute he got to rest comfortably on the bench.
There was the last of Draymond Green’s five 3-pointers with 2:36 to play in the third quarter, which gave Golden State a 74-57 lead — their largest to that point — that elicited this shock and awe from Curry:
Credit Ian Clark for the assist in keeping Curry from falling out of his chair, and you’ve got to love Warriors assistant coach Jarron Collins’ ho-hum, “Um, please get off me, Steph,” reaction to the Curry reaction.

And then there was the beatiful ball movement that ultimately led to a Klay Thompson 3 — Golden State’s 12th of the evening — that pushed the lead to 20 with 10 seconds left in the third quarter and drew this response from Curry on the bench, where he probably could’ve remained for the rest of the evening:
As Curry empties his quiver into the Oracle Arena air, there’s Collins and the rest of the Warriors coaching staff still coaching away, with little regard for a lead that ballooned to 33 on their way to a 2-0 series edge. Curry did make a brief cameo in the fourth quarter, converting his own impressive 3 from 30 feet, but he soon returned to celebrating on the bench, although the real celebration apparently began pregame.
