Johnny Manziel reportedly sued for trashing mansion in L.A.
Not that Johnny Manziel needed more legal trouble, but now he’s being sued for more than $40,000 in damages after allegedly trashing a mansion he rented in Los Angeles.
TMZ reported that Manziel is being sued by Nicholas Goodwin. Goodwin claims that Manziel rented his 5,000-foot house in April. In a twist that sums up so much of the ridiculous Manziel drama, Goodwin says a man named Travis wanted to rent the house for a couple days, but when he met “Travis” he recognized him as Manziel, the former Heisman Trophy winner and Cleveland Browns first-round pick.
Manziel promised to keep things low key, and agreed to pay a fine if more than 15 people were at the house. But Goodwin claims that surveillance video showed Manziel hosting huge parties. the TMZ story said. TMZ said there was evidence of drug and alcohol use at his house, and Goodwin told TMZ “he had to call for ‘hazardous material clean up’ to pick up the ‘narcotics’ that were left behind.” TMZ said there was damage to expensive rugs, broken glasses, tables, bathroom doors, statues, couches and more.
Manziel has a more serious court case ongoing in Dallas. He was indicted in late April after an allegation that he assaulted his ex-girlfriend. Manziel planned to plead not guilty, his lawyer said.
It has been an eventful offseason for Manziel, though the term “offseason” probably doesn’t apply for an unemployed football player who has almost no hope of signing with another NFL team unless he shows an incredible turnaround in his life. And even though he has no NFL job, he might be forced soon to pay up after damaging a rental property.
