Anthony Rizzo teases former teammate after embarrassing throw
We wouldn’t blame Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo if he felt invincible. After all, he’s a man living his dream, playing every day for a Cubs team that seems destined to make history.
Unfortunately, he’s neither invincible nor invisible on the field, as evidenced by the embarrassing throw from Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Welington Castillo that smacked him right on the head.

The throw happened in the first inning of Chicago’s 6-0 win on Friday afternoon. Rizzo’s response to said throw was a classic, as he feigned anger and then playfully shoved Castillo, who had been his teammate in Chicago the past four seasons.
For a brief moment, Rizzo had a number of people tricked into thinking he was actually angry, including home plate umpire Hunter Wendelstedt. Fortunately, that’s not how Rizzo operates. He’s more of a laid back and fun loving player, which seems to be the theme across the entire Cubs’ roster.
He had no intentions of throwing down with Castillo, but he had every intention of drawing some attention to a throw that no catcher wants to have on their highlight reel. That’s just Rizzo’s duty as a friend, first and foremost, and considering the throw rattled his cage a bit he had to turn the joke around anyway.
Rizzo would go on to rattle the snakes a bit later on, knocking home Chicago’s first run with a double in the sixth. He finished 2-for-3 with a walk.
