Jose Fernandez gets a headlock after photobombing Barry Bonds
Marlins’ game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. But Bonds didn’t turn out to be the only star of the interview.
Miami Marlins hitting coach Barry Bonds obviously has a lot of hitting knowledge to share with his team’s young players, and the process of working with them is incredibly fascinating. The Marlins broadcasting team at Fox Sports Florida decided to interview him about that on Thursday during theBonds had a lot of interesting things to say about the Marlins players he’s been working with. He talked about the mechanical changes he’s made with Adeiny Hechavarria’s swing, and what he’s been doing to help Giancarlo Stanton out of his slump.

It would have been a lot easier to concentrate on what Bonds was saying if Jose Fernandez hadn’t been photobombing him for a full minute during the interview. It wasn’t like other Marlins interview photobombs, which have included things like gorilla and sea monster masks. This one was nothing but Fernandez himself, standing right behind Bonds, constantly nodding in agreement and making faces.
Bonds had no idea that Fernandez was behind him. In fact, he only found out what Fernandez was doing when the announcers who were interviewing him told him. As Bonds turned to see who was making mischief behind him, the look on his face was pretty ominous.
That’s the kind of look that says “I’m going to punch you in the face.” Thankfully, Bonds thought it was hilarious. “Man, he’s like my child.” Bonds said as he put Fernandez into a friendly headlock.
Even Barry Bonds can’t get angry at Jose Fernandez.
