Curry says knee 'fine', just has to make shots
OAKLAND, Calif. — Stephen Curry said Thursday that his knee is “fine” and he’s not paying attention to speculation that an MCL sprain he suffered in the first round of the playoffs might not be fully healed.
“I haven’t listened to anything about it. I know what I need to do to get ready for games. I’m fine. If I’m playing, then I need to play well,” he said when asked about his health status at shootaround in the Golden State Warriors‘ practice facility.
Curry suffered the knee injury in Game 4 of the Warriors’ first-round series against the Houston Rockets.
Curry also said he was “fine” in Oklahoma City, immediately following Golden State’s Game 4 loss wherein the two-time MVP shot 6-of-20 for 19 points. That performance somewhat statistically resembled his output in Game 3, wherein Curry shot 7-of-17 for 24 points.
“I got a lot of good shots in Game 4. I missed pretty much all of them to start the game,” he said Thursday. “I got into the lane, got some open looks and 3s. Shots that I take and have confidence making. I’ve just got to make them tonight.”
Draymond Green said of his teammate’s health: “I’m not sure if he’s hurt or not. He had a bad game. It happens.”
Green expressed confidence about Thursday’s potential elimination Game 5 with the Warriors trailing the Oklahoma City Thunder 3 games to 1, stating: “We’ll be fine.”
Curry is focusing on the task at hand, rather than the current stakes.
“I’m not really worried about the legacy of 73 [wins],” Curry said. “Right now we’ve got to win tonight.”
