NHL Three Stars: Brodziak’s big Game 4 fuels Blues to series tie
No. 1 Star: Kyle Brodziak, St. Louis Blues
The Blues’ fourth liner didn’t have a playoff point until their Game 4 victory over the Sharks, but had two second-period goals in their 6-3 win and picked up minutes with David Backes on the bench.
No. 2 Star: Troy Brouwer, St. Louis Blues
The power forward (and soon to be free agent) had two goals to give him seven on the postseason in the Blues’ win.
No. 3 Star: Jake Allen, St. Louis Blues
We wanted to find a Shark to honor here, but honestly, Allen’s performance in the third period and in helping the Blues kill off five Sharks power plays earns him third star.
Honorable Mention: Joe Pavelski, Chris Tierney and Melker Karlsson had the Sharks’ goals. … Jori Lehtera and Alex Pietrangelo had the other Blues goals.
Dishonorable Mention: Martin Jones was pulled after giving up four goals on 19 shots in 30:11. … The Sharks were 0-for-5 on the power play and gave up a short-handed goal to Brodziak.
