Rougned Odor’s punch has earned him free meals for life
Texas Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor has had an eventful week. After punching Jose Bautista in the face on Sunday during a truly epic on-field brawl, he was given an eight-game suspension on Tuesday. But that punch earned him more than just a suspension. It has also earned him a never-ending supply of Texas-style barbecue.

According to NBCDFW.com, a Fort Worth, Texas barbecue joint called Heim’s Barbecue decided that Odor’s punch was worth free meals for life, so Odor will never have to pay for a meal there. In fact, they’re so serious about giving him free meals for life that they even sold a T-shirt emblazoned with “Rougned Eats Free.”
Sold is the operative word, though. The T-shirt had an extremely limited run of just 200, and they’re all sold out. (It’s one of a few T-shirts that have commemorated the Odor punch).
So if the suspension is getting Odor down, now he has a great way to fix that. He can soothe his feelings with plate after plate of smoked and barbecued meats. There are certainly worse and less tasty ways of getting through a suspension.
