Evan Fournier is not very bullish on the Raptors’ chances vs. Cavs
Heading into the Eastern Conference finals, few observers gave the Toronto Raptors much of a shot of toppling the top-seeded and rampaging Cleveland Cavaliers. Many, though — including us — thought a Raptors team that finally got its All-Star backcourt going late in its second-round matchup with the Miami Heat could earn one win. By midway through the second quarter of Tuesday’s Game 1, though, at least one NBA player had seen enough to come to a different conclusion:

The Raptors have 0 chance to win a single game man. Sorry
— Evan Fournier (@EvanFourmizz) May 18, 2016
An awful lot of NBA fans surely felt like the Raptors were drawing dead, but seeing Orlando Magic shooting guard and restricted-free-agent-to-be Evan Fournier communicate it was a little jarring. Like, we all want to get our Kevin Garnett when David and Goliath square off, but sometimes the anything that is possible is that LeBron James dunks on you so hard that the basketball changes shape and mayors across Canada quietly file away their open letters in the process of running you clean out of the gym. Less than 20 minutes after Fournier’s tweet, the Cavs went into halftime with a 22-point lead; they’d push that to 31 by the final buzzer, doing everything in their power to convert other onlookers to Fournier’s way of thinking.
The big takeaway: always keep an eye on Evan Fournier’s Twitter account. It’s increasingly becoming a source of some of the NBA’s most entertaining reactions to league events.
