Crosby’s first goal in nine games lifted the Penguins to a 3-2 overtime victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 2 The series-tying goal came 40 seconds into the extra period and was the Pittsburgh captain’s fourth of the postseason.
No. 2 Star: Andrei Vasilevskiy, Tampa Bay Lightning
The young Lightning netminder got off to a rocky start in Game 2 allowing a pair of first-period Penguin goals in a span of 5:05, but recovered to finish with 38 saves on 41 shots. Of those 38 saves, 16 came in the third period with the scored tied at two and Pittsburgh dominating possession trying to take the lead. One of his biggest stops of the night came on Crosby in the second period.
No. 3 Star: Kris Letang, Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins blue liner led all players in shot attempts with 10 and in ice time, playing 27:56 of Game 2.
Honorable Mention: Anton Stralman scored in his first game back in the Lightning lineup since March 25 and played 18:39 … Phil Kessel notched his sixth goal of the playoffs in the first period … Jonathan Drouin’s third goal of the postseason tied the score late in the opening period.
