Karl-Anthony Towns to wear Flip Saunders' ring at NBA draft lottery
NBA rookie of the year Karl-Anthony Towns will have a special good luck charm around his neck as he represents the Minnesota Timberwolves at Tuesday’s draft lottery, as the team looks to win the No. 1 pick for the second year in a row.

Towns will have the wedding ring of former Timberwolves coach and executive Flip Saunders, who died in October. Ryan Saunders, Flip’s son and a current Timberwolves assistant, usually wears the ring around his neck and gave it to Towns to bring to New York for the lottery, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
The odds are a little tougher this time for the Timberwolves to get the No. 1 overall pick, as they have an 8.8 percent chance of winning it. Last year, they had a 25 percent chance of getting the top pick when they won the lottery and eventually drafted Towns, who went on to become the unanimous rookie of the year.
