Oklahoma transfer Alex Ross reportedly headed to Missouri
Missouri has reportedly added some speed to its offense.
KOMU reported Sunday that Oklahoma transfer Alex Ross will join the Tigers as a graduate transfer. PowerMizzou.com confirmed that Ross signed a non-binding financial aid agreement with Missouri and reported that the Tigers coaching staff “is not expecting Ross to take more visits.” Ross, a running back and explosive kick returner, visited Mizzou over the weekend.
Oklahoma announced May 6 that Ross would pursue a graduate transfer for his final year of college football. If the transfer comes to fruition, he would be immediately eligible for the Tigers in 2016.

Ross’ best season at Oklahoma came in 2014, when he rushed for 595 yards and four scores while averaging 31.2 yards per kick return. He also returned two kickoffs for touchdowns that season.
In 2015, the 6-foot-1, 227-pound Ross averaged 21.5 yards per kickoff return, but fell to No. 3 on the running back depth chart behind Semaje Perine and Joe Mixon, finishing with 172 yards and one touchdown on 32 carries.
When announcing Ross’ transfer, Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops hinted that Ross was looking for more action at running back.
“Alex has been a great teammate and team guy for four years for us, and we’ve always been proud of him,” Stoops said. “This is an opportunity for him to go somewhere else and play full time. We wish him the best.”

Ross would enter a favorable depth chart at Mizzou while also reuniting with former Sooners offensive coordinator Josh Heupel, who joined the Tigers coaching staff in December. Among returning running backs, only Ish Witter (619 yards, 2 TDs in two seasons) has game action. The Tigers also added junior college transfer Natereace Strong and four-star recruit Damarea Crockett in the 2016 recruiting class.
