Watch Jean Segura avoid getting wiped out by a giant toothbrush
As a means to entertain fans that are often tasked by sitting through three-plus hour games, several Major League Baseball teams have adopted themed mascot races to provide an in-game boost of interest and energy.
For example, in Washington, they have people dressed in large costumes depicting former presidents in what’s become known as the ‘President’s Race.’ In Milwaukee, they have the racing sausages. In Pittsburgh, they have the pierogi race. And that continues right on the down the line.

Then you have the Colorado Rockies. If you’re not aware of their mascot race, you might be picturing five purple dinosaurs circling the warning track. Based on the laws in Colorado, you might even be picturing something a little less family friendly that fits the current landscape.
Rest assured, it’s none of the above. Instead, the Rockies have opted for good hygiene, as they promote dental health with the “Tooth Trot.”
That’s right, a group of people dressed as teeth and dental products make up the Tooth Trot. However, as much as they’re attempting to promote good health, there’s also an element of danger involved as Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Jean Segura learned on Wednesday.
Watch out for the giant toothbrush, for he treats everyone in his path with the same disdain as plaque build up. One more step in the wrong direction and Segura may have been spitting teeth, not keeping them healthy and clean. Forunately, he was quick enough to roll with the brushes, and the tooth and the toothpaste, to avoid a serious collision.

There’s actually a lesson to be learned here in addition to the importance of brushing your teeth every day. That is to always look both ways when exiting a dugout. If it’s not a toothbrush, it could easily be an oversized Teddy Roosevelt or a polish sausage that endangers your well being.
