Cycling-Veteran Griepel sprints to victory in Giro stage five (Reuters)
(Adds detail) May 11 (Reuters) – German veteran Andre Griepel won stage five of the Giro d’Italia on Wednesday, powering to victory at the end of a 233-km stage from Praia a Mare to Benevento. Dutchman Tom Dumoulin retained the overall leader’s Maglia Rosa (pink jersey) after finishing safely in the pack, although Luxembourg’s Bob Jungels took four seconds off his lead which now stands at 16. Tuesday’s winner Diego Ulissi is a further four seconds adrift in third place on general classification.
