2016 NFC West NFL Betting Preview: Seahawks Headline Division Super Bowl Odds – Bleacher Report
The NFC West has made appearances in three of the last four Super Bowls and has sent two members to the playoffs in each of the last four seasons. And two members of the division rank among the top five betting choices to win the Super Bowl this season. Here’s a post-draft update of Super Bowl 51 odds at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark for the NFC West teams.
Seattle Seahawks (+850)
Following consecutive Super Bowl appearances, the Seahawks fell in the divisional round last year at Carolina. Now, heading into this season, even after losing running back Marshawn Lynch, Seattle tops the betting on many Super Bowl 51 boards. The Seahawks ranked fourth in the league last year in total offense and second in total defense, and young Thomas Rawls, as long as his ankle is fine, looks like he might fill Lynch’s shoes nicely.
Arizona Cardinals (+1400)
The Cardinals are 2-of-3 on postseason appearances under head coach Bruce Arians after winning the NFC West last season and reaching the NFC Championship Game. Arizona is also now 34-14 straight up and 31-17 against the spread under Arians, making him one of the best coaches in the league on which to wager.
The Cardinals led the league in total offense last year while ranking fifth in total defense and may have added a monster when they grabbed Ole Miss defensive end Robert Nkemdiche with the 29th pick in the draft.
Los Angeles Rams (+5000)
After 20 seasons mired in the Midwest, the Rams are back in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, they drag a decade-long playoff drought along with them.
Los Angeles (St. Louis) managed to go 7-9 last year, despite ranking dead last in the league in total offense, even with the emergence of running back Todd Gurley. The Rams then traded up to take Cal quarterback Jared Goff with the first pick in the draft. Now if they’ll just go back to those classic LA-era uniforms, they might be on to something.
San Francisco 49ers (+10000)
The 49ers have fallen hard since their Super Bowl appearance of just three seasons ago. Last year, San Francisco won just five games, as the offense ranked 31st in the league, the defense 29th overall.
Now the Niners move forward with another new head coach, Chip Kelly, and doubt as to who will be their Week 1 starter at quarterback. This team is a project at the moment, and as such, it used five of its first seven draft picks last year to bolster the troops in the trenches.
