LSU completes incredible comeback after ‘Rally Possum’ appearance
When baseball is played late into the night, it tends to get weird.
For evidence, look no further than Saturday night’s college baseball game between SEC rivals Arkansas and LSU. That’s where a possum appeared and an eight-run deficit disappeared as the clock approached midnight.

Actually, the comeback did start a little before the possum’s first appearance. It was a five-run difference in the seventh inning when it first appeared and delayed the game for several minutes.
According to The Advertiser, this came just minutes after “Louisiana Saturday Night” was played over the loud speakers at Alex Box Stadium, which includes the line, “Belly full o’ beer and a possum in a sack.”
Apparently, the possum doesn’t like that line. That, or it doesn’t like baseball. Whatever the case, it did everything it possibly could to avoid being caught and continue disrupting the game. That game actually led to some unexpected entertainment.
And a few dirty looks as well.
I could be wrong, but I don’t think the possum was asking for an autograph.
Eventually, the possum was captured and taken away in a relatively peaceful manner.
But he remained in spirit as LSU continued chipping away, run-by-run.
That all led the a big finish, where LSU secured the game and the series in extra innings.
From ‘Rally Monkeys’ to ‘Rally Squirrels’ to the ‘Rally Possum,’ we’ve witnessed quite an evolution within our beloved game. We’ve also now witnessed Bartolo Colon hitting a home run, which truly means anything and everything is possible. We should just keep watching… forever.
