With his 43rd birthday only 17 days away, Mets right-hander Bartolo Colon accomplished something Saturday that he has never done before in his long career: He hit a home run!
Colon swatted his first career dinger at Petco Park in San Diego on Saturday. Padres righty James Shields served it up. Here’s the all-important video:
Colon’s teammates gave him the silent treatment in the dugout too. Awesome.
The call is so great. Play-by-play man extraordinaire Gary Cohen made is sound like Colon just hit a walk-off home run in Game 7 of the World Series. Gosh, that’s so good.
Baseball is just the best. In no other sport will you see a soon-to-be 43-year-old doing something like this.
Celebrate! Bartolo Colon has hit a homer. (USATSI)
