Ortiz to re-enact post-bombing speech for movie
In case you’ve been wondering what David Ortiz will do after his playing career is over, then Tuesday might’ve brought with it a hint. Ortiz is going to give acting a go, according to the Hollywood Reporter:
Berg is using actual news footage as B-roll for the bombing sequences, which were shot over six days in late April. But for Big Papi’s spontaneous speech, the director is opting for Ortiz in the flesh. Scheduling is tricky given the Red Sox designated hitter’s six-game-a-week schedule.
Ortiz’s re-enacted speech — you know the one — will be for the film Patriots Day, a flick about, obviously enough, the Boston Marathon bombings. Patriots Day is expected to open around Christmastime.
If Ortiz can act as well as he can hit, he’s in for a bright future in Hollywood.
