Mike MacIntyre believes Davis Webb will still transfer to Colorado
Colorado’s coach is still publicly confident former Texas Tech quarterback Davis Webb will be a member of his team in 2016.
Webb previously announced he was heading to Colorado in January. As a graduate transfer, he’s eligible to play immediately. And that immediate eligibility has made him a hot commodity. Webb has visited other schools who would like to secure his services for the upcoming season.
He’s taking visits to other schools because the financial aid agreement he’s signed with Colorado isn’t binding.
“I talk to Davis Webb basically every day, almost every night,” MacIntyre said via BuffStampede.com. “He has told me every time he is definitely coming to Colorado. I don’t have any other reason to think why he wouldn’t.
“I just don’t like the rule. He signed a financial aid agreement with us but everybody else can still recruit him and badger him and try to manipulate him, which I do not agree with. I think that is wrong, but that is the way the rule is. But I believe he will still be here at Colorado.”
Webb reportedly visited Cal, where he could replace Jared Goff if he transferred there. He’s also reportedly visited Auburn; both Jeremy Johnson and Sean White saw time at quarterback for the Tigers in 2015. Webb would (likely) start for Colorado in 2016 because Sefo Liufau is out for the season with a foot injury.

Webb is transferring from Texas Tech because Patrick Mahomes is now the entrenched starter for the Red Raiders. Mahomes was the full-time starter throughout the 2015 season after taking over for the final part of 2014.
Webb was the Holiday Bowl MVP in 2013 when Texas Tech beat Arizona State. His transfer means that he’s the third notable quarterback from Tech’s 2013 roster to transfer. Baker Mayfield, who opened the season as the starter, is now Oklahoma’s quarterback and Michael Brewer transferred to Virginia Tech.
