A sea monster and a monkey are no match for Martin Prado
Concentration is an important quality for a Major League Baseball player to posses. They need it to focus on the pitch about to leave the pitcher’s hand, to drown out the booing/cheering crowd, to follow the ball off the bat in the field, and so much more. But most players don’t have their concentration tested the way Martin Prado’s was Thursday night.
After the Miami Marlins’ 5-1 win against the Washington Nationals, Prado did a post-game interview to discuss his 2-for-4 night against Max Scherzer. About two minutes into the interview, this happened.
Two of Prado’s teammates, wearing a sea monster mask and a monkey mask, decided to try and distract him. If the numbers on their shirt (12) and arm band (19) can be trusted, the part of the sea monster was played by Chris Johnson, and the part of the monkey was played by Miguel Rojas. (They can expect their Emmy nominations in a few months.)

They waved at him, they waved at the camera, they intensely examined his head, but try as they might they couldn’t distract Prado from his post-game interview. He giggled only once, when his masked friends first appeared.
Unable to get Prado to laugh or recognize their presence, the sea monster and the monkey slinked away after about 25 seconds. They gave it their best, but they were no match for the supreme concentration skills of Martin Prado.
