Reports: Brian Hoyer to meet with Broncos Thursday
The Houston Texans’ signing of Brock Osweiler made Brian Hoyer expendable, which everyone assumed at the time of Osweiler’s signing, and which became reality on Sunday when Hoyer was released by Houston.
But with quarterback play at a premium and several teams in the market, Hoyer has been in New Jersey since Tuesday, dining with New York Jets’ brass on Tuesday night and spending Wednesday at the team facility meeting with head coach Todd Bowles and offensive coordinator Chan Gailey, among others.
Once he wraps up in Florham Park, Hoyer will head west.
According to multiple reports, the 30-year old is scheduled to meet with the Denver Broncos on Thursday.
The Jets and Ryan Fitzpatrick, their 2015 starter, are at a standoff over a new contract, and the Broncos have been in the market for at least one more quarterback after acquiring Mark Sanchez in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Though Hoyer had a disastrous game in the playoffs for the Texans against the Kansas City Chiefs, throwing four interceptions, he was solid in the regular season, with 19 touchdowns against 7 interceptions in 11 appearances (nine starts).
